I have not been very involved in the Canadian politics blog-o-sphere. One blog that I do follow - and one of the first to feature me in its blogroll - is Canuck Attitude. I was shocked to read that the proprietor of that blog, Bruce McDonald, recently died, apparently taking his own life.

He designed this graphic, signifying, "no surrender" in the fight for gay rights.

My heart goes out to all those who knew Bruce. If you don't know who he is, please read Simon's tribute to him.

  1. I didn't know Bruce or know of his blog until I read your post, but I am sorry to hear about the loss of this activist who was evidently tormented by homophobic assholes and survived a lot of abuse by them. People often don't realize how common a problem suicide is. It is a problem that doesn't have to exist, if we would talk about things more and treat people more humanely and not act like it's a shameful thing that should never be mentioned, then perhaps it would not be so common.

Don't be an obvious troll!

I would prefer if you don't post as "Anonymous". You don't have to sign in to comment, so just pick a name and stick with it. Just so that I can have a better idea of who's commenting. Thanks!
