So it's okay to make men sexual objects now? From reading though your blog it seems you would object very much to the portrayal of women as sexual objects. It's a two way street dear.
That's just the most flattering picture I could find of him. I wanted to embed the video of him lip-syncing to "Eye of the Tiger" but embedding was disabled. He's funny and attractive and I enjoy him as an actor. I don't think it's wrong to be a fangirl.
Also, this isn't cat-calling someone on the street, or just talking about an actress' boobs when she's nominated for an award, or an up-skirt photo. Ackles is an active agent in how he is being perceived by the viewer. I don't want to get into a debate about pornography and things, but suffice it to say that I believe the level of agency exercised by the participants matters in terms of whether their objectification is demeaning or not.
And it's not a perfect "two-way street". Men occupy a different social space from women. An image of a man being objectified by women is not a threat to his being perceived as a full human being or being treated like an individual with his own interests. It's never suggested that his value as a person is based on his ability to gratify women.
Comments = rainbows, kittens and hugs. No comments = sad bloggers.
Don't be an obvious troll!
I would prefer if you don't post as "Anonymous". You don't have to sign in to comment, so just pick a name and stick with it. Just so that I can have a better idea of who's commenting. Thanks!
Oh, have watched @Supernatural@ recently))) He drives me crazy, though I'm rather adult))))
ReplyDeleteThe only man of my dreams this week)))
